Transportation Committee Report

The City is proposing three transportation alternatives for the Primary Urban Corridor in their Draft Environment Impact Statement (DEIS). Alternatives are No-Build (construction & expansion of currently programmed transportation projects & services), Transportation System Management (reconfiguration of the bus system to a Hub-&-Spoke network organized around 10 transit centers), and a Bus Rapid Transit System.

The City Council Transportation Committee is holding two public meetings on the City's transit plan and the DEIS. -Thursday, Oct.19--6: 30 p.m. in the Waimalu Elementary School Cafeteria Thursday, Oct.26--6: 30 p.m. in the Honolulu Hale, Council Chamber. To testify, you must be registered by 6:30PM before the meeting.

Tentatively, the LWV has scheduled a meeting with the City to discuss the transit DEIS at the League's office on Oct. 17 (Tuesday) between 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. For meeting confirmation & information, call Charles Carole (531-2503 or chcarole@hotmail.com).
