Time for Action - October UnitsThe purpose of the League of Women Voters is to take action on issues as well as to study them. In fact, one of the criteria for choosing study items is that the item be in an area in which the League can act effectively to influence government. In our October units we shall be discussing how the League and its individual members can and do take action. There is a place for everyone in the League's Time for Action Program. The League needs the support of its members in action on all fronts from being informed, to sharing information with other people, and to publicly representing the Le4gue at the City Council or State Legislature. The League acts both as an organization and through its individual members. Both types of action are important! Come to the October units to find out what the League is doing and to help us explore other ways in which we as League members can influence our governmental process. New League members will be introduced to how the League acts after it has studied and taken consensus on an issue. Older League members can share their experiences with us and help us explore and evaluate our action program. In the coming November election there are two ballot items on which the League has studied and taken consensus: City Charter Review and the Education Article of the State Constitution. Now is the Time for Action on these vital issues. How can you act to help ensure that your positions on these items are brought into being?
