Hawaii-Kai - Unit ReportThe Hawaii-Kai unit started off the year with a coffee hour for prospective members at Lucille Rogers' house. Sixteen interested women attended, and eight of them joined after the meeting. The Hawaii-Kai Unit also gained eight other new members and five transfers, bringing their total member ship to 55. A cable television program entitled "Vote Scopeā and shown on Channel 6 brought League information to Hawaii-Kai. The many interesting and informative programs were planned and coordinated by Frances Dohme until March, when Rosemary Barnhart took over responsibility for the program. In January the unit had a special guest speaker, Mrs. Donna Ikeda of the Hawaii Kai Communities Council, who filled us in on developments in the sewer rate controversy which was of special interest to our residents. The membership agreed we would like to have more guest speakers in the future as topics of general concern arise. Hawaii-Kai members saved Betty Crocker coupons faithfully throughout the year, and won a close contest for the most points. Our prize was a lovely serving tray which will be most useful at future unit meetings. We were fortunate to have the services of Sandy Krewson for members' pre- school age children. She has agreed to babysit for us again next year, and we look forward to a busy year under the chairmanship of Barbara Owen. Lucille Rogers |
