Resolving Land Use Disputes Through Negotiation Thirteen League members were attendees/participants in this Honolulu City Council sponsored conference November 14th. Kathy Albu sits on the advisory committee; Astrid Monson was a discussant on Development Agreements and Sam Lee shared his neighborhood board experience regarding Mililani High Tech. Participants heard four groups talks about their roles in real-life situations which had used negotiation rather than court action to resolve conflicts. Professor Lawrence E. Susskind spoke at luncheon. He told of the trend toward negotiated developments, the mechanics to achieve a settlement and stressed the importance of having a mediator in development disputes. Participants then experienced work with a mediator as small groups role-played the resolution of a development dispute at at "Menehune Bay."
