Helene Hale Honored Members of the Hawaii County League of Women Voters gathered in Hilo to honor Helene Hale for her many years of support to the organization and her service in politics to Hawaii. “You’ve been an inspiration to us as the ideal of what we would like to see from all women,” said Sue Irvine, Hawaii State President of the League of Women Voters. In the name of the League of Women Voters, Helene was presented leis by Sue Irvine, Marianna Scheffer, Co-President of the Hawaii County League of Women Voters, and Lois Cecil, immediate Past President of the County League. Susan Dursin, Co-President of the County League, capped the luncheon by presenting Helene, at the request of Virginia Isbell, with a declaration of appreciation signed by all of the Hawaii County Council members.
