First Saunders Award to Jean Aoki

Maile M. Bay, Suzanne Meisenzahl, Jean Aoki, Mary Anne Raywid

A Marion G. Saunders award for Most Valuable Leaguer has been established in the State League, to be awarded 'occasionally,' as warranted, in memory of Marion Saunders who, with her husband Allan, co-founded the League in Honolulu and in Hawaii.

The awardee is to be named by members of the Board of Directors of the State League and identified at the Convention or Council.

Jean Aoki was the first recipient, and received her award at the convention on May 10. The plaque which constituted the award read "Staunch upholder of ethics in government; Vigilant guardian of League standards; The embodiment of the League at the Legislature."
