Two New Studies Approved at ConventionTwo new studies were approved by the State Convention on May 10. One was a study of the Hawaii's public access television stations such as Olelo. The purpose of the study is to compare the way in which the stations currently operate, to the original intent for them when they were established. This is intended as an exploratory study which may not lead to a recommendation for a position. However, the study may provide the informational basis for more specific proposals and possible subsequent recommendations. Another study was approved, looking into the two most prevalent types of voting systems: (a) the plurality-majority system, and (b) the proportional representation system, with special attention to Instant Runoff Voting, a variation under the plurality-majority system.
