"Practicum on the Hawaii Legislative Process"For potential Lobbyists State or City Co-Sponsors: University of Hawaii Outreach College and Hawaii Pro Democracy Initiative Non-Credit Course (10 sessions) Instructor: Ian Lind (with guest lecturers) Ian Lind has an MA in political Science from UH Manoa, is an investigative writer with broad background in Hawaii politics, and is a former Executive Director of Common Cause Hawaii and Chair of the Honolulu Community-Media Council. Class Dates: selected Tuesdays 9:30 to 10:30 am December 8 January 12 & 26 February 9 & 23 March 8 & 29 April 12 & 26 May 10 Location: first session held at UH-downtown, Pioneer Plaza (lower level) 900 Fort Street Mall.
Tuition: $125.00 Curriculum: Participants will learn all aspects of the legislative process, including practical experience in tracking bills, conducting research, writing and submitting testimony, public advocacy and lobbying legislators. THIS WILL BE A VERY PRACTICAL COURSE IN CIVICS AND WILL ORIENT AND GIVE EXPERIENCE TO ANY MEMBER INTERESTED IN THE WAY LEAGUE PURSUES ITS GOALS BY LOBBYING AT THE CITY OR STATE LEVEL FOR ITS POSITIONS.
