New Director Welcomed to State Board

Mrs. Arlen Scott (Alice) will join the State Board in September as a Director, holding the portfolio on State Items. Alice came to Hawaii in 1938 as a public health nurse on the Big Island. She retired last year as Director of Public Health. Mr. Scott is State Superintendent of Farmers Home Administration under USDA. They nave a grown son away at school. Alice joined the Honolulu League in the fifties, She served as vice-president under four presidents (a perennial V-P, she says). She has worked with Local Agenda Committee on the City-County Charter and on other items, and is presently an observer at City Council.
