LWV/Hawaii and LWV/Honolulu will participate with the Associated Students of the University of Hawaii (ASUH) in promoting the YOUNG VOTERS REGISTRATION DRIVE conducted the week of September 8-12. Registrars will be available at four sites on campus and the LWV/Honolulu will provide registrars at two of those sites all five days, arranged by Jean Aoki.

The purpose of this Drive is three fold: (a) to inform and increase the awareness of students of the mechanics of the electoral process; (b) to register eligible students; and (c)to increase awareness of the issues through Candidate Forums on campus

Rudy Belano, the ASUH Coordinator with his group of students is preparing the Candidate Forums. LWV/Honolulu will provide the moderators at the four candidate meetings: Diane Hastert on Monday, September 8, for the Congressional candidates; Evelyn Bender for the Lt. Governor candidates on Tuesday, September 9; Sue Francis for the Republican candidates for Governor on Thursday, September 11; and Sylvia Levy for the Democratic candidates for Governor on Friday, September 12. Dorothy Lum, Anne Lee, Arlene Ellis, and Grace Furukawa will be available for back-up.
