Kaua'i League Live Call-In Radio Program a Big Success!

Lively debate, dozens of calls from the community and many candidates' positions placed on the record for the first time were all results of "To The Point," a live radio call-in show presented by the Kauai League of Women Voters.

The league received near full participation among candidates, with both prosecutorial candidates appearing, all candidates in contested state legislature races, and 14 of the 17 candidates vying for seats on the Kauai County Council appearing. The program, which aired Sundays from 2-4 P.M. on Kauai radio station KQNG FM 93.5 and AM 57, stimulated much community discussion, both during the program and in the weeks to follow.

The majority of shows were hosted by Kauai League President Susan Wilson, with long-time leaguer Fred Jager and State League President Jackie Kido each guest-hosting a program. A special effort was made to involve young people in the program. Six of the seven weeks a first-time voter was on hand in the studio to co-host the show, asking questions on the minds of Kauai's young adults.
