The League of Women Voters of Kauai, in cooperation with The Garden Island Newspaper and Garden Isle Telecommunications will again be conducting both print and video Primary Election Voter's Guides this year. The print guide will appear in the Wednesday, September 16 edition of the Garden Island Newspaper.
All Mayoral and County Council candidates were sent their questionnaires and instructions via registered mail July 22, 1998.
The questions enclosed were, for the most part, formulated from issues identified at a public meeting held on June 13 this year as well as LWV-KC's program planning meeting earlier this year and during a series of town meetings held by LWVKC. Thanks to all who contributed at these meetings, and especially to LWV members, including Andy Parks who worked hard to include all input.
The Video Voter Guide will be taped on Saturday, August 29th at the Outrigger Kauai Beach Hotel. Candidates will be scheduled at half-hour intervals and will be asked three open-ended questions. Candidate responses will be combined, unedited, with those of the other candidates and will run on three successive programs. Special thanks to League member, Cynthia Masukawa, for volunteering to schedule candidates for all the video shooting sessions.
