State Board Actions
- State Council was scheduled for May 15-16 on Kauai. The state board meeting will follow State Council. Delegates and board members will pay for hotel expenses.
- The state budget for fiscal year 1998-99 will be mailed to all board members for approval and placed in the winter Ka Leo O Hana.
- The sum of $1500 was set aside for three delegates to the National Convention in San Diego in June.
- No action was taken on requests by other leagues to support studies and program priorities at national Convention. It was suggested that immigration problems are reviewed at State Council and an opinion formed then.
- Jackie Kido's resignation from the board was accepted. Jackie will be working on Governor Cayetano's campaign on Kauai. She will continue as off-board chair for land use and water issues, but will not be making any public statements for League.
- League's nonpartisan policy and the implications for board members were thoroughly discussed. (See President's Message.)
- League's Corporate Drive will commence in April.
- President Aoki was asked to write letters to our congressional delegation requesting them to support full payment of our obligations and debt of back dues to the United Nations.
