Small Schools and Schools-Within-Schools (insert)

Education Committee Projects 1998-99

The following projects have been selected as projects that could have an ultimate effect on the education system as a whole. We hope to recruit other LWV members to assist in gathering the data.

  1. 5,000-6,000 Schools-within-Schools fliers similar to the one on charter schools

  2. Interviews and observations at Special Needs Schools to get reactions from principal and 4-5 teachers & parents with wide distribution of results in media or LWV publication

  3. Attitude survey of how SCBM is working including what works, some outcomes benefits, problems, impact special benefits from Legislature for being SCBM.

  4. Compilation of statistics: over 16 year period on 9th through 12th grades. Critical areas: Nanakuli, Waianae, Kahuku, Kapa'a, Pahoe, Maui High

  5. Survey of materials in schools: English, Social Studies, Math, Science books, laboratories, audio-visual, computers, athletic, playground, wish list
