Population Explosion: 6 Billion People in 1999

The United Nations has announced that June 16, 1999 will symbolically mark the day the world reaches 6 BILLION PEOPLE.

According to a brochure Gaining People Losing Ground produced by The Population Institute:

IT TOOK UNTIL

1830 for humanity to reach 1 billion people

1930 to reach 2 billion people

1960 to reach 3 billion people

1975 to reach 4 billion people

1996 to reach 4 billion people

1996 We are at 5.85 billion people

According to an article in the Nov. 19, 1998 edition of the Honolulu Advertiser, the Census bureau has predicted that by the year 2050, the United States population will grow to 394 million, about 50% more than at present.
