The League of Women Voters of Hawaii strongly supports that the State of Hawaii rejects all federal funding under Title V that mandates “abstinence-only” sex education be provided to our children and teens. This education does not provide even basic information about contraceptives, sexually transmitted disease, and HIV.

Hawaii has one of the highest rates of teen pregnancy in the nation. We support more comprehensive forms of sexuality education that includes information about both abstinence and contraception. Teens need to make informed choices.

The urge your support. Thank you for the opportunity to testify on this bill.
