President's Message

Elections are pau and we did well: The phone was busy, and members were busy with our many voter service projects. The Board of Education candidate's + forum did not draw the public response we desired, but those in attendance gained valuable insight from the presentations and response to audience questions which occupied the two and a half hour program.

The state League's BOE tabloid was very much appreciated by those who found them in the stores or libraries. The office staff found that these information pieces are just what the public expects of the League. This means that we must begin to plan voter service activities NOW for the future! The Board has recommended that the committee be a continuing program. If you wish to join the voter service committee, contact Nan Luter NOW.

Nan was included as an invited guest with 40 other Leaguers in a pot-luck dinner to celebrate the hours of hard work put in for the League and the community this year. Those members constituted 18.2%of our membership. Thanks to Dorrie Marsh for the dinner, and Sheila James for the setting.

Our December programs will fall within a social framework but is nonetheless an important link with our city hall programs. It is a "breather" before our next year's schedule of member's meetings which will include program planning, neighborhood board discussion and consensus, national security, planning and zoning, comparable worth and the new national study on financing tire federal government. Watch the Voter for details:

Have a beautiful holiday season,
and
Mahalo to all,

Dorothy Lum
